The Tech Camp Cyprus with a theme on "Digital Citizenship in the Disinformation Age" has just been completed! Congratulations to all the young people from Greece who traveled to Nicosia and participated in this two-day program together with young people from Cyprus and other European countries. We are particularly pleased that the winning team of the contest was the Greek programmer and valuable collaborator of the CodeGirls program of the U.S. Embassy, Athens and the U.S. Consulate General, Thessaloniki. The Tech Camp Global is a program of the US Department of Foreign Affairs, which takes place in various parts of the world with the purpose of bringing together young people with specialists on specific technology-related issues. In Cyprus, it was co-organized by the US Embassy in Cyprus and the American Center of the University of Nicosia, and aimed at helping participants to respond to the challenges of the growing influence of digital media, prepare them to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digital media and to become more democratic citizens, as legit and concrete information are the basis of a strong democracy. The Greek participants returned with new ideas and a vision for new collaborations and actions.
