The 8th Athens AvantGarde Film Festival, organized by the Greek Film Archive / Ταινιοθήκη της Ελλάδος, is set to take place from 12 to 26 November 2014.

It is the 9th event organized by the Greek Film Archive in the framework of the project Cinephilia in the New Age (Regional OperaGonal Programme of AIca / ROP AIca 2007--2013) of the NSRF. The Festival takes place under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports. This Festival aims to investigate the new modalities of Avant Garde in the new millennium by focusing on the experimental cinema, auterism and independent cinema. The AAGFF has successfully met the demands of the Greek audience for a contemporary home where cinephilia is cultivated in its most multidimensional form.

With tributes to distinguished filmmakers, the international competition section, special screenings and parallel events (seminar, master classes, art exhibitions), the 8th Athens Avant-¬Garde Film Festival opens on Wednesday, 12th November with the screening of digitally restored Rebel without a cause (1955, 111 ́) by Nicholas Ray. The film was restored by Warner Bros in collaboration with The Film Foundation, financed by Gucci and The Film Foundation.
