A two-day conference on Psychosomatic Care in Cancer with the participation of three distinguished U.S. experts is organized by NGO “PAME MAZI” and it is hosted by the American College of Greece on October 20-21.
The goal of “PAME MAZI” is to promote the importance of empathy at all levels of health care and the need of a patient centered holistic approach with respect to patents’ choices. Patients, survivors, students of psychiatry, psychology and medicine; physicians; psychologists; caregivers are invited to this forum.
They bringing three American experts: Michelle Riba, M.D., Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry and on the Executive Committee of the World Psychiatric Association; and Dr. Kristin Baird, Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist Maryland U.S.A.; and
Lori Wiener, PhD, Co-Director, Behavioral Health Core, Director, Psychosocial Support and Research Program, Pediatric Oncology Branch, Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health.
The Forum is organized under the auspices of the Psychiatry Department of the Athens Medical School, the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of Patras University Medical School, and has broad-based participation of all nonprofit organizations working to increase awareness and improve the lives of cancer patients in Greece.
