Every 2nd Sunday of November, one of the largest sport, cultural, and tourism events is taking place in Athens: ATHENS MARATHON. THE AUTHENTIC!
The Athens Marathon celebrates its 35th year in 2017 with the annual race from the town of Marathon to Athens covering 42.195 kilometers.
SEGAS, the Hellenic Athletics Federation, has the honor and the historic responsibility to organize annually the Athens Classic Marathon on the Original Marathon Course. Since 1982, the Athens Classic Marathon has been dedicated to Grigoris Lambrakis, the athlete, scientist and Member of Parliament, who was murdered in the 60s and, after his death, became a symbol of Human Rights.
The finish line for the marathon will be held once again at the iconic Panathenaic Stadium with more than 43,000 runners expected from around the world to participate.
