The most exciting pitching competition for startups, “The Squeeze” by Orange Grove, is back for its twelfth edition, on March 8th, the International Women’s Day! This occasion will be a great opportunity to turn our attention to startups with women behind their success.
Orange Grove, the international startup incubator in Athens initiated by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Greece, will offer the unique opportunity to eight ambitious startuppers to present their promising business idea onstage to a wide audience of investors, entrepreneurs, journalists and startup enthusiasts, as well as a distinguished international jury panel, in the most exhilarating pitching contest. The winners will have the chance to win €15,000 or €10,000 in prize money!
The first Squeeze of 2018 will be even more exciting as it will be held on International Women’s Day, offering a great opportunity to celebrate success of Female Entrepreneurship! For this reason, the Jury will consist of distinguished women from Greece and abroad, who stand out for their professional success and their international status:
- Gigi Wang, Industry Fellow, Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship, UC Berkeley; Managing Partner, MG-Team, LLC
- Dr. Sharon Freeman, Chief Executive Officer at Gems of Wisdom Consulting, Inc. (GWCi)
- Hiro Athanassiou, former EVP and Managing Director Unilever Greece & Cyprus
- Myrto Papathanou, Partner at Metavallon VC
The presenter of the event will be the Dutch journalist, Jan Franke, founder of Franke Kramer Innovations!
“The Squeeze” contest will be complemented by side-events, in which female entrepreneurship will once again have a leading role.
The 12th edition of “The Squeeze” competition will be supported by the Embassy of the United States of America in Greece, in the context of the U.S. role as Honored Country in the 83rd Thessaloniki Fair, its theme of “harnessing innovation”, and the year of America in Greece 2018. The cooperation will give startups the opportunity to pitch their idea to an even wider audience!
"The Squeeze" is made possible with the generous support of Orange Grove’s lead donor, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, as part of its “Recharging the Youth” initiative. After the contest, the event will be followed by networking opportunities and lots of beer, offered by Orange Grove's main sponsor Heineken, and pizza by L’ Artigiano.
"The Squeeze" is open to the public and entrance is free. Please sign up for your attendance on Eventbrite! (https://orangegrove-the-squeeze.eventbrite.com)
