The 1st Thessaly Chamber Music Festival will be held from June 16 to June 29 this year. The festival is organized under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and the Ministry of Culture by the Region of Thessaly in collaboration with a number of local municipalities and other bodies, associations and chambers of commerce. Supported by the U.S.-based non-profit Chamber Music Hellas, the festival aims to showcase world-class musicians alongside the staggering natural beauty and cultural heritage of Thessaly.
The concerts will take place at a number of historic sites throughout the region—including an ancient theater dating from the 3rd century BCE and an 18th century Byzantine church—and will also include an outdoor performance set in full view of Meteora, a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site. The program is curated by the festival’s Artistic Director, acclaimed composer and pianist Lowell Liebermann, and will present iconic international masterpieces of chamber music alongside a selection of works by Greek classical composers.
