How does a female comic artist break through a male dominated industry? How do you turn your passion into a profession? How do you become a New York Times bestselling cartoonist? Celebrated American cartoon artist Colleen Doran will answer these questions and many more during a special presentation organized by the Athens Comics Library and the U.S. Embassy in Greece, on Wednesday, April 7, 19.00-20.30. The event is in collaboration with The Comic Con.
Colleen Doran will share insights on her work, her creative process, and her experiences in the U.S. comics industry – including working with Marvel Comics and DC Comics, as well as creating illustrations for top writers like Neil Gaiman and Margaret Atwood. She will also answer questions from the audience.
The event is free and open to the public and will be broadcast on the Athens Comics Library Facebook page. The event will be in English and no registration is required.
As part of her collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and Athens Comics Library, Colleen Doran will also lead a “Writing and Drawing Comics” workshop specifically directed toward girls and women who are interested in careers in this field on Thursday, April 8, 19.00-20.30.
