by Stacy Peralta (2001), 91 '
The ultimate documentary about skateboarding is riding the flying wheels of filmmaker Stacy Peralta, who managed together with his friends to launch this sport from ground work for bored waveless surfer days without to an extreme sport in the urban landscape. Member of the legendary Zephyr Skating Team who converted empty pools in Santa Monica to adrenaline oceans, captures the creative explosion of the 70s, the decadence of the 80s and the dynamic comeback of the sport in the 90s, while sketching the portraits of basic Z- Boys, that amazed everyone - and especially their parents! - Starting from the sidewalk only to become legends.
The skateboarder and artist Billy Griparis (aka Billy Gee) with a long service in both Athenian sidewalks and in the pages of magazines (see Athens Voice) will present the film and will choose three winners who will each win a pair of skate shoes from Vans, one of the main sponsors of Stacy Peralta's movie.
