The legendary Residents return to Athens, five years after their last visit, celebrating their four decades with their Best Of show, "Wonder Of Weird / The 40th Anniversary Show".
Having recently "discovered" as Randy, Chuck and Bob, the creative pioneers of Avant Garde / experimental scene, continue now as the ultimate powered trio, performing some of the most classic pieces. As part of a tour - which, perhaps, is their farewell - the Residents will appear on Friday, May 24 at Fuzz Live Music Club, for a concert that they themselves characterize as... "Sex, shrugs and anti-rock'n'roll."
In the late 60s, the members of this very unusual artistic band met in Shreveport, Louisiana. Their acquaintance with the amazing guitarist Phil Lithman was a focal point for the further development of their sound. Lithman remained their main partner until his death in 1987.
Since 1972, when they moved to San Francisco, they released their music through their own company, Ralph Records. A year earlier, they sent a sample to Warner Brothers hoping to attract the interest of Hal Halverstadt. He was not impressed and returned the material to the address of the anonymous sender, marked "to The Residents" ("to the people"). Honoring the element of mystery, they decided to adopt that name.
