Andrew Horton, philhellene and scholar, lived for many years in Greece and especially on the island of Kea. Counting more than 40 years of exploring, teaching, and writing about Greek cinema, literature and culture, will share some readings from his book Bones in the Sea.
The documentary film "Bones in the sea: Andy Horton & Kea" by screenwriter Alexandra Belegrati, will be shown. The documentary was partly shot on the island of Kea, during the peiod when Andy Horton would bring groups of American students to Greece. Several of Dr. Horton's Greek friends will also share a few stories.
Andrew Horton is Jeanne H Smith Professor of Film and Media Studies at the University of Oklahoma, an award winning screenwriter, and the author of 26 books on film, screenwriting and cultural studies. His films include Brad Pitt's first feature film, The Dark Side of the Sun and the award-winning Something in Between (1983, Yugoslavia, directed by Srdjan Karanovic).
