No Place On Earth

27 January 2014

A unique documentary about the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust

CineDoc presents «No Place on Earth», on the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust, on January 27, 2014.

The film recounts how in October 1942, Esther Stermer , a member of the Jewish community in Ukraine, desperately tried to save her family from the wrath of Nazi extermination. Along with her family and other members of the Jewish community, they remained hidden under the earth for almost half a year. It is the longest underground residence without interruption ever recorded.

This amazing story found light randomly when a cave explorer, the Cypriot Chris Nicola, stumbled into residues left behind by the cave dwellers, during the Second World War. Through extensive research and determination, Nicola managed to identify some of the survivors and gave them the opportunity to share their incredible story.
