3rd Thessaloniki Pride

20 June 2014

A weekend dedicated to the right to be different

On June 20 and 21, Thessaloniki is welcoming for the third year the Thessaloniki Pride. Since this year, the city bears the title of European Youth Capital, the festival is part of the program and dedicated to-what else? - The youth. Under the slogan "Time for us," the participants at the 3rd Thessaloniki Pride send the message that it is time the new generation takes over and the lgbt voice is heard publicly and clearly.

As in previous years, thousands of people are expected to flood the entire festival and fill the historic city center with optimism, cheerfulness and joy demanding dignity and equality for all and all. The festival starts in the afternoon on Friday, June 20, at the town hall with exhibitions, discussions and screenings. Late in the afternoon the crowd gathers at the White Tower where the event culminates in a grand parade at 19:30. The parade goes back to the symbol of Thessaloniki, which is lit up in rainbow colors. The weekend closes with the spectacularly large outdoor concert.
