Human development and social justice in the years of economic crisis
The conference of the scientific union of Human Development and Capabilities Association (HDCA), entitled "Human development in times of crisis: Rapprochement of social justice", is co-organized by the University of Ioannina and the Bielefeld Center of Education at the University of Bielefeld in Germany, on September 2-5, 2014 at the President Hotel in Athens.
The aim is to approach in a philosophical, economic and institutional way, the human factor and its development into economic recession environments.
International personalities are participating such as Professor at Harvard Amartya Sen (Nobel Prize in Economics, 1998), Professor at MIT Daron Acemoglu (author of Why Nations Fail), philosophers Martha Nussbaum (University of Chicago) and Phillip Pettit (University of Princeton), and Kaushik Basu (chief Economist of the World Bank).
