New York Welcomes South Aegean Cuisine

For the second year in a row, the city of New York has welcomed and presented the authentic, unique tastes of the South Aegean Region.

The event was organized by the South Aegean Region, recently named European Region of Gastronomy 2019, aiming to promote Aegean food culture and stimulate innovation in gastronomy. Prominent Greek and Greek-American chefs co-organized the event.

Argyro Barbarigou, Ambassador of the South Aegean 2019 Gastronomic Region, in collaboration with the *Dames d’Escoffier,(Les Dames d'Escoffier DC is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) invitational organization of women leaders in the food, beverage, hospitality, and related industries who use their talents and influence for community outreach and through grants, mentoring, scholarship and educational programs, to help support women to succeed in these industries.)

On March 13, a team of journalists from the most important US media outlets specialized in ethnic cuisine and gastronomical tourism from the largest US media firms, such as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, gathered to discover the secrets and highlights of the appreciated Aegean gastronomy.

The invitation to the event was also extended to well-known food bloggers and luxury travel writers. The press event took place at famous James Beard House (https://www.jamesbeard.org/events).
