Ancient Theater of Aptera to reopen after 17 centuries of silence

The Ancient Theatre of Aptera in Chania, Crete will once again "come alive" after 17 centuries of thespian silence. Following its restoration, this unique monument of Crete will on Friday, June 29 host a dramatised narration of a rhapsody from Homer's "Odyssey", performed by actors Sofia Hill and Antonis Myriagos accompanied by Yiorgos Kaloudis on the lyre and Ruth Hill on the qanun (kanonaki in Greek).

Field Museum Announces New Exhibition Highlighting Ancient Greece

The Field Museum announced the opening of the exhibition The Greeks: From Agamemnon to Alexander the Great. The exhibition will take visitors on an extraordinary journey through more than 5000 years of Greek culture—from their Neolithic origins to the expansion of Greek culture into Asia and Africa under Alexander the Great. Drawing from the collections of 21 Greek museums, it will be the largest exhibition on the ancient Greeks in North America in 25 years.
