30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the U.S. Department of State is hosting an interactive webchat to discuss the importance of the law to the everyday lives of people with disabilities, and how individuals and organizations advocating for disability rights built a successful movement that created lasting and impactful change.

While smart cities have existed in theory since the 1980s, their presence expanded in the past decade along with the rapid integration of technology into everyday life. By 2025, demand for smart city services is expected to grow by more than 30 percent across Europe, Africa and Latin America.

Across the United States people are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the landmark legislation known as the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). Since the passage of ADA, the nearly one in every six Americans with a mental or physical disability have a civil rights law that protects them from employment discrimination.

Art Without Limits

The Onassis Cultural Center in partnership with SKEP – Association of Social responsibility for Children and Youth, and the U.S. Embassy in Athens is organizing a free workshop with visual artist and educator Timothy Lomas, from June 23-27, 2014, for children 9-14 years old. The visual arts workshop will include children with disabilities and without disabilities, working together to prepare their own exhibition.
