Open Doors 2020: More American Students are Choosing to Study in Greece

According to the Open Doors 2020 survey findings, published by the Institute of International Education (IIE), a growing number of Americans are choosing Greece as a destination for study. Greece welcomed a total of 5,834 U.S. students during the 2018/19 academic year, marking an increase of 11.7% compared to the previous year. Thousands of Greek students chose the U.S. for their studies, with a total of 2,489 Greek students studying in U.S. academic institutions during the 2019/20 academic year.  Greece moved up two places and is now ranked 12th globally for study abroad destinations for U.S. students (it was ranked 14th in 2019, and 17th in 2018), with 5,834 U.S. students studying in Greece for the 2018/19 academic year, compared to 5,223 the previous year.

Greece FLEX Community Organized Creative Writing Competetion

The alumni community of the FLEX exchange program organizes a creative writing competition with the theme:

✏️ "Write a fictional story that emphasizes the importance of International Education."

In view of the International Education Week which aims at mutual understanding between the countries and due to the strong experiences that the FLEX graduates gained by staying and going to school for a year in the USA. FLEX community invites students aged 14-18 to share their thoughts on International Education.

Applications for the FLEX Program are open for another month, until October 15 !
For secondary education students with a date of birth July 15, 2003 to July 15, 2006 who want to live and go to school in the US for one year, with a full scholarship!

#FacesofExchange: Nadina Christopoulou

 Dr. Nadina Christopoulou was selected as one of the IVLP #FacesofExchange for empowering migrant and refugee women in Greece as the director and cofounder of the Melissa Network.

Dr. Nadina Christopoulou is an anthropologist empowering migrant and refugee women in Greece as the director and cofounder of the Melissa Network. In 2015, she participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) “Women Leaders: Promoting Peace and Security,” initiative which led her to conclude that it is most effective to prevent violent extremism through education and public engagement.
