“Mix and Match Games: Maria Letsiou and Caroline Pradal”

FokiaNou Art Space is pleased to present the work of two artists, Maria Letsiou and Caroline Pradal, who hail from Thessaloniki and France. Naomi Harris - EUSA

Globalization has made the uniqueness of a particular country less significant thus creating an indistinguishable common world community. EUSA is a portrayal of American themed places around Europe and European themed places in the US. Being enthralled by another country's way of life does not mean that it is always an accurate portrayal rather it becomes a sentimental and idealized depiction; an homage to a heritage that isn't ones own. These locations are a perception of fantasy, a sense of what the other wishes the reality would be; a reaction to the homogenization of European and American cultures.

Christian Patterson - Bottom of the lake

With Bottom of the Lake, Christian Patterson takes an allusive view of his hometown of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The work revolves around the 1973 Fond du Lac Telephone Directory, published shortly after the artist's birth. Patterson revisited and photographed places listed in the book and eventually placed his images inside his reproduction of the directory.

Athens Photo Festival

Each year the festival focuses on a specific theme, encompassing a range of photo-based forms including photography, installations, multimedia and photobooks. The 2015 edition's theme under the title "Reframing Memory" explores how photographers and artists today represent past/history, defining the social changes they undergo, bringing together a wide range of international artistic positions.
