Greek Universities Go West!

The U.S. Embassy in Athens is sponsoring a 10-day study-visit for staff and directors of Greek university career centers to the United States. With the aim of helping Greece increase job opportunities for its young people, particularly new graduates, the U.S. Embassy has arranged a series of visits to public and private universities, as well as meetings with members of the business community, with representatives of non-governmental organizations working on higher education issues, and with members of local government throughout the dynamic state of California.

Most of Gallaudet's graduate programs train students in professional services for the deaf and hard of hearing. Geo Kartheiser, a graduate student in the educational neuroscience program, won a National Institutes of Health fellowship for his research on how sign-language learning can give insight into the structure and functions of the human brain.

The heads of the career centers of the University of Ioannina, Patras, University of the Aegean, and the Athens University of Economics and Business along with a Ministry of Education representative, travelled to the U.S. to explore how university career centers operate in the U.S. to contribute in youth entrepreneurship, innovation and job creation.
