Greek Artist Dimitris Papaioannou Performs in NY

Addressing a unique audience of artists and friends of the arts, Greek choreographer and director Dimitris Papaioannou presented the first part of his last performance, "Sisyphus," proving that he is an artist of international prestige. The performance was part of the International Summer Program at the Watermill Center.

Last Saturday, after the presentation of "Sisyphus" — part of the "Still Life" performance – Papaioannou stayed in New York to carry out a workshop with the artists who participated in the International Summer Program. The performance was also presented this past May and June at the Onassis Cultural Centre, in Athens,
This year's events, led by artistic director Robert Wilson, included performances by world-famous artists and video-portraits created by Wilson that focused on popstar Lady Gaga, who attended the International Summer Program.

For the past 20 years, The Watermill Center has hosted an International Summer Program. Each summer, about 65 artists from almost 30 countries gather at Watermill's Long Island for two to five weeks of intense creative exploration and artistic development. Participants have the opportunity to learn from established professionals and collaborate with different artists.
